Sea and Beaches

The first public swimming baths, made of wood, were constructed in 1888, marking the beginning of the era of modern tourism.

Today, the beaches of the Crikvenica are known for crystal clear seawater, exceptional beauty and an abundance of Mediterranean plants growing alongside footpaths. There are sandy, pebble and rock beaches, secluded and peaceful coves and some of them turn into stages over night with cultural and entertainment happenings.

Lots of care was taken to preserve quality of water and as a result beaches in Crikvenica received Blue Flag award.

Beaches have lots of content. Showers, parasols and sun loungers are offered standardly, and there are bars and restaurants nearby that offer refreshments, aqua parks for children, possibilities of water skiing, parachuting, boat renting and so on.

Entrances to all beaches are free with exception of entrance to City Beach.

In 2010 first pet beach was opened. It is equipped with special shades for pets, and also does not have entrance fee.
